Baum, Vicki.
A Tale of Bali.
Oxford University Press, Singapore.
First published in 1937, a fictionalized
account of the ritual suicide, cum massacre,
which occurred in South Bali 1906. Vicki
Baum was an Academy Award winning screenwriter.
Her Balinese novel, inspired during a stay
with Walter Spies, provides wonderful reading.
